Frequently Asked Wedding Questions
What do you shoot?
I love to photograph landscapes and people. I really enjoy taking people out to spectacular landscapes, putting them in the mix and seeing what kind of magic we can create in front of the camera.
Where are you based?
I am currently based in Vernon, BC and often visit my family in the West Kootenays. I mainly shoot all over western Canada. I'm always up for a trip somewhere new for photos.
Do you travel for weddings?
Of course, I love to travel! I love seeing different scenery and travelling the world. Please contact me to know more about destination weddings.
How much does it cost to travel to our wedding?
Anything within the north and central Okanagan is considered local. Travel expenses apply only to weddings which require me to leave the night before and return the day following the wedding. Destination wedding prices are the same as package prices plus $500 (or more if necessary) to cover 2 night’s accommodation and fuel. To be negotiated at time of booking.
There are two locations which are dear to my heart that I do not charge any travel expenses to photograph at. The first is the Canmore/Banff area in Alberta. I grew up in Canmore and spent most of my life there so I am very familiar with all the best photography locations. Any chance or reason to spend time in my beloved Rockies! The second location is the West Kootenays of British Columbia. This has been an area I have visited more than anywhere else in Canada. The Kootenays are a special place with a uniquely simple energy and lifestyle.
How long does it take before I receive my wedding photos?
My agreement states that I will deliver the photos to you no more than 30 days after the wedding. This is the absolute latest you will receive your photos. This gives me time to properly edit all the best photos from your day. I always try to have the photos to you as soon as possible. I enjoy putting on some good music and staying up late for some long editing sessions. So far people have been impressed with the delivery time of their photos, and I have not yet reached the full 30 days.
How many photos will I receive?
Not every photo will make the cut. Depending on your selected package you can end up with anywhere from 100 photos to 300 even 400 + photos if you have full day coverage.
How will I receive my photographs?
All your photos will be beautifully cropped, edited and available to download from your own private online gallery followed by a USB drive which will arrive in the mail.
How long have you been working in Photography and what's your background?
I started off my career photographing nothing but wildlife for the first five years. Some of my wildlife photography has graced the pages of Canadian Geographic Magazine. From there I started capturing the spectacular landscapes I found myself in. I shot my first wedding in 2011. I've done a handful of weddings, engagements, maternity and portrait shoots since then. I am a self-taught photographer who has been blessed to have a number of great mentors along the way.
What makes you different from the other photographers?
By photographing wildlife early in my career I’ve observed wild animals a lot. They are extremely alert and sense what’s going on around them. They’re much more aware compared to humans. Spending so much time in the wilderness I too feel that sharpness and clarity. When I am behind my camera I am in my Zen moment. It is my desire to create the best possible photographs for you to treasure forever.
What equipment do you use?
I use a variety of high end Nikon bodies, lenses and flashes.
I’ve lost my photographs. What now?
All you have to do it contact me and I will send a USB your way. There will be a charge for this.
What do we receive?
You will receive the images that I’ve carefully selected. The number of photos will vary depending on your selected package. You’ll get high resolution photos for any printing you want to do along with downsized versions for email and social media. If you’ve ordered albums, prints or canvases, they should arrive within four weeks of ordering.
What is the price of your wedding services?
My packages currently start at $1000 and go up to $3000. There is something for everyone. I am in the process of adding to my list and hope to have a total of five different packages to choose from. I can also customize a package to give you exactly what you're looking for.
What if you get sick or injured?
I’ve never missed a shoot yet. In the unlikely event that I fall gravely ill or become injured, I will make all reasonable efforts to find a suitable replacement photographer. I will agree to terminate the agreement upon rejection of the substitute photographer by you, and acknowledge that a full refund of all monies paid including your deposit will be refunded within 10 business days.
Do you have an assistant?
Occasionally my assistant will be joining me for a shoot.
What if we don't want you to publish our photos online?
Not all of my photos are published online, simply let me know and a Confidentiality Agreement can be signed. That means that no photo I take at your event will be shared with anyone except for you.
What are your selection criteria?
I'm getting more inquiries as time goes on. I will follow up with you immediately to let you know if I have the date free. I’m looking for fun, adventurous couples that aren’t afraid to step outside of their boundaries.
How much is the deposit? Is it refundable and how quickly will I have to pay it?
The deposit is $250 and is non-refundable. I recommend that you pay your deposit as soon as possible because it will secure your date of booking.
When is the full amount due for my wedding?
The outstanding amount is due 14 days prior to the wedding day. With the exception of the deposit, all payments are refundable if the wedding day is cancelled.
